ElM, there are still some big ideologies, though not divided up geographically by tribe so much as in bygone eras. There are: Statism aka socialism/communism/Eurocrat/Hippie commune collectivist thinking [the dominant ideology these days]. State run money is part of this thinking. Individualism aka Objectivism/self determination/freedom Islamic Jihad = old style Aztec style superstition [and other such religious ideologies] Greenhouse Effect/environmentalism = really just part of Statism and more akin to religious thinking. Modern day Aztecs - a priesthood calling for human sacrifice, totalitarian control of everyone and a kleptocratic dominance hierarchy. It thinking. Biotelecosmictechdot.com ideology = we don't know where we're going but we're on our way into Cyberspace and genetic engineering aka eugenics. Get your 23andMe test done. Some would say capitalism but that's just part of individualism. Being free is ipso facto capitalist. <Do you remember the time when ideologies were alive? Then people tended to hate each other for the ideas they believed and were opposite to what hey held as truth. Today you come here prove day after day that you are right and people do not like that > It seems strange that people are so hung up on being right even when reality doesn't match their beliefs. I suppose it's just territoriality in chimpoid brain parts. It's so difficult to be right. But figuring out what reality is and what it's going to be is a very good thing to do so it's worth the effort. Not just figuring out what reality is going to be but deciding what it should be and actually creating it is harder still, but also worth doing. Why bother defending a faulty idea? There are lots of other ideas to adopt. For example, on CO2, I'd be happy to accept it's a problem tomorrow morning and stop it if I really thought it's a problem. But after 3 decades of watching, the theories are bung. Snow does still happen in England, manatees die of cold in Florida. Temperatures are not up even 1 degree after 100 years of CO2 going from 280 to nearly 400 ppm. Global Doomsters seem unable to consider that their ideology is just a belief system, with the facts not matching their theory's predictions. Instead of being relieved that they don't have to worry any more, they look as though they'd have lost something great. Tweedles Be Brave was a children's book from long ago about a lot of monkeys in thrall to the King but one day they realized they didn't need him to boss them around. Many people seem to want to have a Priestly class and enjoy their Stockholm Syndrome lives of limitation. Their faulty thinking is exposed in many ways such as calling CO2 a pollutant when all we could really say is there's a bit too much of a good thing [if there is, but there isn't]. Mqurice
