I like Charlie, he's cool. However I think you may have mischaracterized what Tillerson is saying. At least in his latest reported statements he seems to be singing from the same hymn book as Pickens. In fact all three, those two and you are all in accord, its just that the total size of the supply has not been defined yet.

So the mid point and end point haven't been clearly identified. Your view that mid point of supply was a few years back meshes well with Tillerson saying that oil and gas would remain dominant until after the middle of this century.

I think of it as a large bell shaped curve. It took about 100 years to get to the approximate mid point, so it should take considerable time to go from the mid point to the last barrel of oil. Whether it is 100 or 75 or 50 years from now is not an issue that I care to think too much about.

What motivates me is making some money off of this diminishing supply. I am not sure what motivates you. Perhaps it is just the realization that some things are not infinitely sustainable.
