I think it was more a play on words by the Moose, Kumar.

He referenced "denigrating" which to some segment of the population might sound like a slur based on the "n" word, which we all know is the case. It's kind of like people getting up in arms over the word "niggardly," meaning stingy.

Kumar :

Accepted, but in my 1 and only visit to Harlem,NYC , I found the local population referring to each other as "Nigger(s)".

Is it an exclusive prerogative to them that is absent from the notion of it being a denigrating slur ?

The word 'denigrate' has etymology closely related to the N-word that people object to.

Hmmm, perhaps Nigeria should rename itself as Nwordia.. :)
