Precious metals are measured in troy ounces.

1 pound = 12 troy ounces

22(lbs) x 12 troy ounces = 264 t oz

264 t oz x $1400/t oz (gold) = $369,600

Though the equivalent weight in gold may be worth less, it is easier to conceal.

Take the gold and run.

So if I'm going to rob a bank, or a home, I'd prefer cash over gold

For robbery purposes, I can see that. The windfall would be even greater when the stolen cash was used for the purchase of gold bullion. <G>
