Used to be you could get White Crosses and Black Beauties pretty easily. Both were prescription drugs although I don't recall the real names for the compounds and don't have an old PDR laying around. Anyway, I'm guessing they were available because they were commonly prescribed (to somebody, by somebody, for something) and that some people found it a better proposition to sell them than take them. Or a certain portion of the manufacturing run was siphoned off, somehow.

Don't know what the availability of pharmaceutical speed is now. My guess is that if the prescribed supply has been curtailed the poorly manufactured supply has been increased, given a relatively constant or growing demand. There is nothing magical about prescribed speed, other than it was made in a safe environment and is a cleaner, safer chemical to ingest.

As LindyBill rightly pointed out this is never about solutions, it's emotional.

Some few posters a bit back proposed shooting or hanging. A few thoughts came to mind when I read those comments but I refrained at the time. While attempting to not direct them to or at anybody I'd like to share them now.

1) There but for the grace of God go I.

2) What a wonderful example of the milk of human kindness overflowing.

3) Hanging is too easy a punishment. I suggest slitting their eyeballs with a razor, impaling them on a spit and slow roasting them. Or maybe burying them to their waist and pelting them with rocks. Shooting and hanging are so last Tuesday.
