concept formation...back to earlier point, and in connection to religious right...how come we dont know how to make concepts (even tho we do it all the time...)...it requires that we look at evidence from this world as a source of truth...whereas religion requires that we look to the supernatural for our source of truth. This basic conflict is still affecting us today....what, how many hundreds of years after your namesake was burned at the stake for doing just this...looking at evidence from this world as a source of knowledge.

Other similar examples: The work of Copernicus was kept on the list of banned works by the Catholic Inquisition, from 1550 to 1850...can you believe it? 300 years on this list of banned works...because the truths from this world were in contradiction to the 'truths' of the supernatural.

Roger Bacon, first known empirical scientist in Europe, imprisoned by the Inquisition for the last 15 years or so of his life, and persecuted for decades before that, for developing a scientific method related to investigating the principles of chemistry, around the year 1250 I believe.

Aquinas was the last European scholar allowed to attempt to integrate Aristotelian philosophy with religion...all others after him were persecuted and blocked by the church. Aristotle based his method of thinking on observation of this world (whereas Plato looked to a supernatural source for concepts, so he and his followers were accepted by mainstream thinkers).

Net: Most of us do not know how concepts are formed because all the major thinkers who have found themselves on a correct path for solving this problem have been persecuted by the church. And yet we use concepts constantly as a guide to our action...very strange.

You could outlaw lobbying, then replace existing Congressmen with random citizens off the street and have more equitable representation.
People are blind.
