Populaces are cynic, deep inside they know what comes toward them. They will keep pretending they are unaware so their leaderships keep making efforts to accommodate them. It is all about everybody pretending this what they are living is reality. One it hits they will go: Yeah, we knew it al along. We are just surprised it kept going for do long. Center of gravity of progress moves and places that once were the center become periphery. No Roman Empire decline where the Romans were the only center and periphery was only barbarians. Took 1.000 years to work through that.
