Finally, it seemed too crass to be true. Or was it? Anyone
trying to use a Netscape Navigator to call up Mircorsoft's
response to antitrust allegations posted on the Internet found
they were unable to read the documents for part of Tuesday.

Instead, the curious had to use Microsoft's own Web browser,
Internet Explorer, in order to read the 43-page document and
accompanying materials. Was this because Netscape is a bitter
rival of Microsoft in the ongoing "browser wars?"

"It's a coincidence, " said Yusuf Mehdi, director of marketing
for the company's applications, Internet and client group.
Within several hours of being alerted about the problem, the
Netscape Navigator could read the Microsoft documents.
