I am conservative, too, and I probably own more guns than you do. I know how to jimmy a semiautomatic into a full automatic and I know a good bit about explosives. But I don't think being a conservative requires that you be stupid, ignorant, and mean. The preamble to the Constitution reads: "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." Did you ever notice "promote the general Welfare"?

I am conservative and proud of it. I am not sure of what you have to be proud. Apparently, you don't see what conservatives and conservatism have become in this country. The voice of American conservatism is shrill and inappropriately loud. You don't like what America has become so you are trying to turn the clock back to another time.....a time that makes no sense in the 21st century. America is fast becoming a nation of minorities, and yet, a conservative Supreme Court judge announced this past month that he doesn't think the 14th amendment protects women and gays. Conservative economics and politics caused the worst recession since the Great Depression. Conservative ideology and greed promoted a senseless war on false premises. The last conservative president was one of the worst in history. The truth is your pride is a false one. Many of you conservatives are boomers. Sadly, you have become the very people you despised in the sixties. You need to swallow your pride and admit to what conservatism has become in this country......a hotbed swamp that glorifies hatred, intolerance, anger, and guns. It is hurting this country and disturbing to the rest of the world with its vitriol. America is not in the catbird seat like it was after WW II. Europe is no longer shackled with the ruins of WW II. Asia is no longer a continent of European and communist colonies. They have become strong competitors that will make mincemeat of a weak America. And America has been seriously weakened by conservatism's faux pride and rancor. Enough already! American conservatives, change, or STFU and get out of the way!
