I don't really see it as political, I just don't know of any hate-mongers of equal prominence on the left. I'm not at all sure we can identify and preempt wackos nearly often enough, without locking up half the population ... and that could get very political, very fast -- after all, both left and right think the other side is insane. Best thing would be to restrict guns, imo, but seeing that that's off the table, the next best thing would be to tone down the vitriol ... too bad that's off the table too.
