He does look them up. Like a rifle made in Belgium in the 1890s for the Turkish forrest service.

I'm guilty of messing with an 1884 trapdoor with a pitted bore, cracked stock and missing cleaning rod and rust and a 18?? Belgium parlor rifle 6mm Flobert. So I know the temptation.

Lots of heartbreak when you check the used guns at Cabelas and see all the Mausers, 30-40 Krags and other fine rifles that got chopped up in the 50's and 60's to make custom guns for those that couldn't afford that Winchester model 70 or Weatherby. At the time those guns where cheap and it seemed like an endless supply.

I can only describe it as like seeing fine old cars being turned into hot rods.
