Yes, a nutty idea. Make it "safer" by making it more dangerous. Why don't we remove all guard rails on roads, and just ask people to be more careful? The USA's love affair with guns will not change anytime soon. Slowly we will get to compare our culture to others that will pass us in accomplishments, then some of our nuttier beliefs about what made America great will get challenged, and perhaps some change for the better will come. But it will take decades if not a good fraction of this century IMHO. That's one of the current winger responses.....had everyone in the crowd had guns he wouldn't have shot as many people. And the wingers call the rest of us crazy.
