>>That's false, Palin did NOT publish a target map using images of gun sights. <<

I just did some checking, and couldn't find that symbol among any of the sets of surveyors symbols I scanned. But even if it is used as a surveyors symbol, the vast majority of people who look at that map see it as a gunsight. In ad parlance, that's how it "reads."

I also seem to recall Ms. Palin herself defending the gunsights at the time, but I can't find the quotation.

What a bunch of crap and remaking of history. Palin clearly targeted these people as people to beat. To suggest now that she wanted to "survey" them is nutso.

Bullseye..according to the trailer trash queen herself.

The suggestion that the symbols were related to guns seemed to come, however, from Palin herself. On March 23, Palin tweeted to her supporters a note about the aforementioned Facebook message, writing, "Commonsense Conservatives & lovers of America: 'Don't Retreat, Instead - RELOAD!' Pls see my Facebook page." And as Politico's Jonathan Martin points out, in November Palin boasted about defeating 18 of the 20 members on her "bullseye" list.
