Correction: from the right AND the left. A better way to put that is that you disagree with me. "Correction" is an in-your-face taunt in this context. There is, of course, no doubt we disagree on this point. But none of that has anything to do with insane people like Mark Chapman or Jared Lee Loughner. Some people just wish that it did. I don't recall that Lennon could have been considered a political target but I could easily be wrong about that. Just didn't follow the Chapman analysis all that much. Either of my daughters could tell me, in an instant, the details. But it's clearly the case that mentally unstable people are more affected by political demonization than others. And it's also clear where the dominant demonization comes from in this political moment. And their rise has been concomitant with an increase. One of the things they will also have to answer for down the road is their willingness to let mentally unstable folk have such free access to guns have nothing to do with the sport of hunting. But, of course, we disagree.
