Yes, it would be honest to say it contributes. Just like rhetoric on the left contributes to the hatred of public figures on the right. It's now and always has been a constant media war for the hearts and minds of voters. Distortion, obfuscation, outright lying, fear-mongering...both sides do it.

Perhaps you and I differ on how powerful the effect is. Obviously, if people stay within their self-chosen echo chamber, they will become increasingly emotional and maybe hate-filled. It's self-reinforcing. But people who read all points of view on an issue aren't much affected by the emotional vitriol I don't think.

That's my main point.....not to defend Palin...who I see as such a nonstarter on almost everything. Her powers are greatly exagerated in the minds of many on the press. She doesn't even poll well in her own party.

Apprently, the shooter thought our currency is invalid because we should be on the gold-standard. Heck, Steve, maybe he was reading you and Mish!! <VBG>
