Easier to inflame the public because the fact checking mechanisms we have today were absent back then and countervailing opinions were not as readily at hand. Oh Katelew, you're really rationalizing. Do you honestly think that nut cases go about the internet "checking on the facts" of those that catch their ear? That's absurd. ..........Words do have meaning; whether they are yelled in a theater or used to encourage hate to effect a vote.

Does it mean that you think it is okay for people in powerful positions and people who have powerful platforms like Palin and Bachmann that they can rachet up the vitriol with speech containing imagery of violence? Palin and Bachmann have clearly crossed the line. You have to question their judgment and their ability to serve in high office.
