During TPRO's last conference call, it was stated that some customers were engaging TPRO for pilot projects before making a full commitment.

Maybe these are the engagements to which they are referring.

John, I'll bet dollars to donuts that TPRO is engaged in "try and buy" demonstrations. This is common in the y2k industry, at least in the IT segment. The practice is to give a spool of COBOL code to a bunch of y2k factories, running the code, then giving it back. There is some $$$ involved in try and buy even if you don't get the contract. Now, I recognize this analogy comes from the IT side of y2k, so it is tough to say how this applies to TPRO when there is no KNOWN (or publicly held) competition.
