<<<I have maintained that Ascend would join FORE in the low teens. Consolidations in the ISP companies and other factors make Ascend the wrong stock at the wrong time for the current price.>>>

What a joke!!

FORE isn't half the company ASND is. Last time I checked, they earned about .06 per share last quarter. PE ratio is up somewhere around 50. It only ran up to $20 on buyout rumors. ASND's PE is 19-20 x next years most conservative estimates (1.15 - 1.20). Press release today confirmed that Ascend is the worldwide market leader for ISDN and Frame Relay among both regional and large (national and international) network service providers. Let them all stinking merge! Ascend will still be playing in the space.

Ascend has even achieved 23% marketshare of the worldwide Internet ATM market...............FORE's own backyard!

While I am concerned that a compounded networking sector selloff will impact ASND's ability to continue its apparent reversal, I think its entirely possible that something else is at work here. ASND was too low and due to have an up day or two, but in the face of the massive selloff in the sector of the past two days it should have gone down with the group. Major booking or buyout is entirely likely.
