Thanks for digging this up, and adding some much needed perspective to this thread. Much of the calls for cracking down on speech have historically come from the Right since attacks on governmental institutions were more commonly coming from the left especially during the Vietnam era and turn of the 20th century through the 1920s. The following all triggered calls for restraining "inflammatory" speech: en.wikipedia.org en.wikipedia.org history1800s.about.com en.wikipedia.org The heavy metal band Judas Priest was even sued on the basis that their music had caused a young man to attempt suicide. suite101.com Serial Killers have been known to buy books about other serial killers... the aforementioned would be assassins.. Hinkley and Bremer had in their possessions books about the RFK and JFK assassinations.
