The 30-round magazine was not original equipment. Not part of the gun as sold. I am uneasy with "purposed" permission for weapons by class. It won't make a real difference (unless amplified to an outright proscription imo) in how guns get used, or not used. For personal defense autoloading ("Automatic" is an ambiguous term and also covers full-auto weapons aka "machine guns".) pistols are the state of the art. It boils down imo to whether one considers personal defense to be a legitimate use for a gun.
