Alcoa Earnings: EPS Beats, Sales Look a Bit Light

Alcoa

Excluding items Alcoa reported EPS of 21 cents, beating the consensus expectations of 19 cents. You could argue that the sales look a bit light versus expectations. Revenues came in at $5.65 billion, versus the $5.71 billion expectation. Shares are essentially flat after hours.

Chief Executive Klaus Kleinfeld’s canned quote from the earnings release seems pretty bullish. “In 2011, we see aluminum growing another 12 percent on top of last year’s 13-percent improvement. Quarter over quarter, sales improved in end markets such as aerospace (+4%), building and construction (+2%), distribution (+13%) and industrial gas turbines (+16%), the company said.
