Cummins, Inc. (CMI - Analyst Report) just hit a new all-time high above $113 as the global recovery fuels demand for trucks and engines. With an average earnings surprise of 58% over the last four quarters and bullish 37% growth projection, this Zacks #2 rank stock is hauling some serious momentum.

Our last update on Cummins' came in late October when the company reported strong Q3 results that saw big gains from last year.

Third-Quarter Results

Revenue for the period was up 34% from last year to $3.4 billion. Although earnings fell marginally short of very optimistic estimates, they were still up more almost 200% from last year, increasing to $1.44 from 48 cents last year.

The company's Engine and Power generation segment led the way, with sales up 44%. to $2.1 billion. Cummins' other segments also looked good, with Distribution sales up 36% and Components up 30%.

Non-US markets were up 56%, comprising 63% of the company's total revenue.

Buying Shares

Cummins' also continues to return value to its shareholders, repurchasing $79 million of common stock during the quarter, bringing its total buyback to $389 million under a $500 million authorization program.

Dividend Up 50%

The company also recently announced that it's hiking its dividend by 50% to 26.25 cents per share.

Financial Profile

Cummins also enjoys a great balance sheet, with cash and equivalents up $251 million from last year to $937 million and a debt-to-equity ratio of just 12%.

Estimates

We did see a little bit of movement in estimates off the good quarter, with the current year adding 5 cents to $5.03. The next-year estimate is up 40 cents in the same time to $6.90, a bullish 37% growth projection.

Valuation

But in spite of the strong fundamental profile and solid gain, CMI still has value, trading with a PEG ratio (PE/growth) of just .43%, well below the value benchmark of 1.

12-Month Chart

On the chart, shares recently hit a new all-time high above $113 after spending most of the last few months charging higher. Look for support from the longer term trend on any weakness, take a look below.
