I know you guys believe that the poor just need to pull themselves up by the bootstrap; and you are dead wrong.

When a society helps people lift themselves up, gives them access to a good education, there will be few left in that 10% of poverty.

That is exactly what divides liberals from conservatives. Conservatives often see the poor as lazy or at least unworthy of help.

We liberals believe that if you help the poor and get them a good education they will be able to climb out of poverty.

We have evidence this is true from numerous studies, the headstart program and the GI bill.

You conservatives do not understand the power of education.

I myself came out of working class town, Richmond California. I and few of my friends had any parents who had gone to college. MY father sold used cars and my brother and grandpa were/are plumbers.

But lots of us got into college because California in the 60's had cheap colleges everywhere. I went on to get a masters degree from the U of Washington and my education changed me completely, so that I could easily take care of myself and help my society.

I have my resume posted.

And it is true of many of my friends. Doctors, lawyers and everythign inbetween We were all greatly changed by our college and most of our kids then went to college. MY two kids went to Berkeley and U of Oregon, one a lawyer and one a scientist.

That is what FDR's ideas do!

Your path leads nowhere. No where at all!

And you might want to lose the Horatio Alger myth.

<<Let's define poor as those who as those whose earnings are in the lowest ten percent of all earnings.

Then let's create government programs to reduce poverty and redistribute income from the upper income to the poor.

And then when those in the 11 percentile see the benefits of those just below them, that 10% will get a little larger, more redistribution...lather, rinse, repeat.>

So this gentle lamb of a law-abiding citizen was on his way to a productive life until he was driven to mass murder by some comments by non lefties?
