Jared Loughner is a product of Sheriff Dupnik’s office.

What did the sheriff know & when did he know it?
__________________________________________________________

Jared Loughner is a product of Sheriff Dupnik’s office
thechollajumps.wordpress.com

This is the report that Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik has been dreading since the tragic event on Saturday January 8.

The sheriff has been editorializing and politicizing the event since he took the podium to report on the incident. His blaming of radio personalities and bloggers is a pre-emptive strike because Mr. Dupnik knows this tragedy lays at his feet and his office. Six people died on his watch and he could have prevented it. He needs to step up and start apologizing to the families of the victims instead of spinning this event to serve his own political agenda.

Jared Loughner, pronounced by the Sheriff as Lock-ner, saying it was the Polish pronunciation. Of course he meant Scott or Irish but that isn’t the point. The point is he and his office have had previous contact with the alleged assailant in the past and that is how he knows how to pronounce the name.

Jared Loughner has been making death threats by phone to many people in Pima County including staff of Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers. When Pima County Sheriff’s Office was informed, his deputies assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it solved as Jared Loughner has a family member that works for Pima County. Amy Loughner is a Natural Resource specialist for the Pima County Parks and Recreation. My sympathies and my heart goes out to her and the rest of Mr. Loughner’s family. This tragedy must be tearing them up inside wondering if they had done the right things in trying to manage Jared’s obvious mental instability.

Every victim of his threats previously must also be wondering if this tragedy could have been prevented if they had been more aggressive in pursuing charges against Mr. Loughner. Perhaps with a felony conviction he would never have been able to lawfully by the Glock 9mm Model 19 that he used to strike down the lives of six people and decimate 14 more.

This was not an act of politics. This was an act of a mentally disturbed young man hell bent on getting his 15 minutes of infamy. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department was aware of his violent nature and they failed to act appropriately. This tragedy leads right back to Sherriff Dupnik and all the spin in the world is not going to change that fact.

Perhaps Bernie can panhandle at the little girl’s funeral.

Sanders Fundraises Off Arizona Murders
Weekly Standard 1/11/11 Stephen F Hayes
weeklystandard.com

There has been no shortage of individuals and institutions that have sought to capitalize on the shootings in Tucson. Add Vermont senator Bernie Sanders to that list.

This afternoon Sanders sent out a fundraising appeal, seeking to raise money to fight Republicans and other “right-wing reactionaries” responsible for the climate that led to the shooting.

He writes:

Given the recent tragedy in Arizona, as well as the start of the new Congress, I wanted to take this opportunity to share a few words with political friends in Vermont and throughout the country. I also want to thank the very many supporters who have begun contributing online to my 2012 reelection campaign at www.bernie.org. There is no question but that the Republican Party, big money corporate interests and right-wing organizations will vigorously oppose me. Your financial support now and in the future is much appreciated.

Sanders lists several events as evidence that right-wing rhetoric led to the attacks:

What should be understood is that the violence, and threats of violence against Democrats in Arizona, was not limited to Gabrielle Giffords. Raul Grijalva, an old friend of mine and one of the most progressive members in the House, was forced to close his district office this summer when someone shot a bullet through his office window. Another Democratic elected official in Arizona, recently defeated Congressman Harry Mitchell, suspended town meetings in his district because of the threatening phone calls that he received (Mitchell was also in the cross-hairs on the Palin map). And Judge John Roll, who was shot to death at the Giffords event, had received numerous threatening calls and death threats in 2009.??In light of all of this violence – both actual and threatened – is Arizona a state in which people who are not Republicans are able to participate freely and fully in the democratic process? Have right-wing reactionaries, through threats and acts of violence, intimidated people with different points of view from expressing their political positions?

A staffer in Sanders’ campaign office confirmed that the letter went out today

Senile Sheriff Dupenik hit the big time--Gets call from Obama
...........................................................

blogs.abcnews.com

Some comments after the article:

This sheriff Dupenik is trying to cover his a#$-he knew this guy was crazy and did nothing about it because his mother is a city worker-heaven forbid we be embarassed!! SUE HIM FOR DERILICTION OF DUTY-THE BLOOD IS ON HIS HANDS!

I can't sit still on this one. I live in Arizona - for most of my life and don't appreciate being called a racist or any of the stuff this sheriff said. This guy is a wack job and if anything, the sheriff did not do his job in spotting him with all of the information available. You attack the other Arizona sheriffs for doing their job, but support this guy for his big mouth and his failures. Thanks to the Internet we can now find out what our friends and family really believe. Amazing how my friends and some of my family members have such radical and provocative views. I am all for the exchange of ideas, but I find incredible the ideas that some people have.

A President would have ripped this sheriff a new one for fanning the flames by injecting opinion where dispassionate evidence collection is required. Our politician in chief however, pats him on the back for spouting the party line.

That is Obama....congratulate a sheriff that continues to issue outrageous charges. These folks NEVER let the facts get in the way. They want to divide the country and Obama leads the way. The Progressives will destroy themselves with this continued insensitivity to horrific events. My condolences to the victims and their families.

The President is acting stupidly

May Sheriff Dupnik burn in hell. Soon it will come out that him and his office mishandled the shooter and therefore HE, SHERIFF DEPNIK, is directly responsible for the massacre that occurred in AZ. I hope Sheriff Dupnik and the left wing loons are happy that they enabled the killer to murder and injure all those innocent civilians. But then to a liberal like Dupnik that aint no big deal. He is only sorry that liberals got shot. I think he was hoping more conservatives were in the firing line. DUPNIK you are an accessory to murder.

A way past retirement time Sheriff Dupnik smells an open Congressional seat and has been doing face time to make his claim. Who else but Obama would call that clown.

Why did not the Sheriff's office not follow up on all of the threats that the killer had made over the years? In other jurisdictions, threats that are made are dealt with in court. I do not understand that at all.

Now now everbody, calm down. ABC and the rest of the MSM is busy pulling the wool over your eyes again. They have to start working on getting Obama re-elected you know. They fooled you in 08, it was a piece of cake so..just shut up, sit down, don't ask them any probing question about the President. They will tell you who should run you and American.
Just give in, it's bigger than all of us. We can't fight it. They know how to manipulate you. Just relax.. they did it before...stop fighting..........zzzzz

Raven, he sure was thoughtful and intelligent when he said "the police acted stupidly."

So when Obama calls people who disagree with him "enemies," and uses hateful, violent language about bringing guns to a fight, should we be concerned?

Why hasnt he ever called Sheriff and American Hero Joe Arpaio?

Who is to say that right wing talk incited this guy? Perhaps it was the left wing's incendiary comments about moderate Democrats that set him off. The Daily Kos had this Congresswoman "targeted" because of being a moderate. Why has most of the media chosen to ignore that?

Sheriff Dupnik was on MSNBC spouting off again! yes, this is the guy calling Arizonans "bigots and racists" on TV the other day, and now he's on
MSNBC talking hatred again.

Other county sheriffs in Arizona have now started grumbling about Dupenik,

as Dupnik goes around telling people like Olbermann that it’s basically his legal duty to float half-witted psychological theories about how Sarah Palin’s fundraising literature may or may not affect the mind of someone who’s seriously deranged.

And after days of gratuitously inflaming an already highly inflamed situation, what does he get? Why, a thank-you call from the president.
