That is just speculation. To say he was a "left wing" loonie is just jumping to conclusions.

Actually, I presented it as "evidence". To further support the evidence, several of his friends have stated that he was left leaning. That's called corroboration. You should look up a lawyer and ask him/her what that means.

Or perhaps your issue is with calling him a "loonie"....either way, there is ample evidence to support that he is both a left winger and a loonie.

However, I don't believe that his left-wingedness had anything to do with the fact that he went on this rampage. It's pretty clear that the "loonie" part of his being was and is in control of his actions.

Jared Loughner, Alleged Shooter in Gabrielle Giffords Attack, Described by Classmate as "Left-Wing Pothead"
By James King,

Jared Loughner is described as a "left-wing political radical."
?A classmate of the man accused of shooting Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords this morning describes him as "left wing" and a "pot head" in a series of posts on Twitter this afternoon.

Caitie Parker did not immediately respond to our request for an interview, but her "tweets" in the hours after the shooting paint a picture of Jared Loughner as a substance-abusing loner who had met Giffords before the shooting. She says, Loughner described the congresswoman as "stupid and unintelligent."

We've confirmed that Parker and Loughner went to school together at Mountain View High School in Tucson and that both attended Pima Community College, so her claims of knowing Loughner seem to be legit.

Parker "tweets" that she and Loughner were in the band together and were friends until 2007 when he became "reclusive" after getting alcohol poisoning and dropping out of college.

She describes him as "quite liberal" and as a "political radical."

Well Kenneth, it appears you shouldn't jump to conclusions about others "jumping to conclusions".

Oil surges on offshore drilling report
Oil prices surge as panel says gov't must do more to prevent for offshore drilling disasters

ShareretweetEmailPrintTopics:Commodities Sandy Shore, AP Business Writer, On Tuesday January 11, 2011, 12:35 pm EST
Oil prices surged Tuesday after a presidential panel investigating the Gulf oil spill said the oil industry and the government need to do more to reduce the chances of another large-scale disaster.

Benchmark oil for February delivery rose $1.80, or more than 3 percent, to $91.05 a barrel in midday trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The panel's recommendations included increasing the liability cap for damages when companies drill offshore; increasing budgets and training for the federal agency that regulates offshore drilling and lending more weight to federal scientific opinions in decisions about drilling.

The report raised speculation that the government might slow down production in the Gulf of Mexico, which would lead to higher prices. "As it stands right now, this is a little bit of a concern in the oil patch," PFGBest analyst Phil Flynn said.

Meanwhile, gasoline pump prices continued to climb, hitting a national average of $3.09 for a gallon of regular, according to AAA, Wright Express and the Oil Price Information Service. That's almost 2 cents more than a week ago and about 34 cents more than a year ago.

Oil prices also got a boost from another blast of cold and snow headed into the Northeast. Winter storm warnings were posted as the third snowstorm in less than three weeks took aim at the New York City area. Prices rose for heating oil, which is used mostly in the Northeast to warm older homes and commercial buildings. The price of heating oil has risen more than 4 percent this week.

Oil prices also got support from Japan's promise to buy bonds to help finance Europe's bailout fund. The money from the sale will be used as part of an international bailout of Ireland, even as speculation lingers that Portugal and perhaps even Spain may be forced to seek help with financial problems.

"Every time we get a sign that the market is going to bail out Europe, it's always been bullish for oil," Flynn said.

In Nymex trading in February contracts, heating oil rose 4.49 cents to $2.6010 a gallon, and gasoline futures gained 2.20 cents at $2.4763 per gallon. February natural gas futures added 2.5 cents at $4.424 per 1,000 cubic feet.

In London, Brent crude rose $1.81 to $97.51 a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange.

Associated Press writers Pablo Gorondi in Hungary and Alex Kennedy in Singapore contributed to this report.
