I try to imagine Palin as a serious national politician in just about any other developed country, even some of the emerging markets, and it's so laughable, people would dismiss it out of hand.

More indication that politics and entertainment are hopelessly blurred together now in the US.

No, it's not a connection. It's only a complaint. We don't know that the shooter ever heard of Palin.

But there is no need to come to Sarah Palin's defense

She was being unfairly maligned by the thread and the press. That is reason enough.
