Hey E! I thought you said down in morning but up for the day! ;-)

Re: market movement today I don't get it. The Fed left things unchanged so that was a reason for the sell off whereby tech stocks got smoked after the FOMC announcement. What was the market expecting? The FOMC to raise!!! Or lower!!! I just do not get it.

Cowards are dumping all the semi-equips. Question is what is a reasoanble price to get in? I figure double 1996 lows (arbitrary). It's not doom and gloom yet because I just think those semi-companies have to upgrade their equipment or they're toast... Hmmm... come to think of it if everyone's hurting and no one upgrades they are not necessarily toast I guess. Oh well.

Bought a small semi-equip COHU today. Had researched this company early this year - wanted to get in at 22 before it took off last year - got in today at 35 3/4 (medium sized position) (P/E around 15 - tiny dividend 0.60%, support around 32 and then 25) just before stock sank to 32 3/4. Brilliant timing again. Me thinks relatively cheap and underfollowed. I think a good long term play since the new geometries supposedly need a lot more testing equip. I hope. In a declining market any long position will suck. Not worried now that the margin boogey man has gone into hibernation.

RE: LSI. It's just hanging around. I don't know if there's anything mysterious afoot. Despised stocks don't fall since the people with profits in the stock at this point are too few to matter. LSI will succumb eventually if this fear thing goes on and this thorw-the-baby-out-with-the-bathwater type of widespread selling (yet again).

Other item of interest is that the shrinking of geometries is going to result in a doubling or more of the number of chips supplied. Not sure if this is such a good thing right now - way too much supply possibly. Dufus me did not see this. As a reason to dump semi-equips this might appeal to the market though. I'm not certain. AMAT continues to fall.

This is when it makes sense I think to dip and buy, dip and buy, slowly and kind of gingerly.

The market's afraid right now - we just went below those ugly Mon/Tuesday's lows in many of the semi-equips. Though I suspected the worse was yet to come, I did not think this would happen this quickly with the pattern of low volume days that we've been having. Live and learn - speculative buying is dangerous.

(Something to ponder E!: TSO indicator or the Duane-Olson indicator. Have you noticed that for the 2nd time in the last 4 weeks - Mr. DLO decides to take a sabbatical and not post to this board, and the market obliges us and tanks. Hmmm... I tell you E! TSO has power.)
