"I think market psychology is the ONLY thing that counts now."

You've got it. Take a look at the five year chart for WDC. It closed at a five year low today. Am I crazy or does this stock, from strictly a valuation standpoint, look attractive now or what? The chart looks horrible and no one will buy it on any kind of technical analysis I know of. Simply put, WDC management has historically painted the worst picture possible when bad news is out. We just saw this last quarter with the Seagate mess. Is the same scenario being set for the company to beat revised estimates? Maybe, but other things must happen this time. First, Fujistu can't continue to sell drives at cost. Secondly, the Asian crisis must work its way through the market. Three, we can't see a slow down in the American economy.

John, of course book value is not the ONLY thing, and not really a thing especially in value a high tech firm. However, when things are bad (like right now with WDC), I tend to use book value to see how low the stock price can fall. Finally, at least 2x of book is much better than a lot of other below $10 predictions.
