It only makes sense that in a production economy, investing in good businesses will work out better over time. It's only through distortions, booms, bubbles, busts that the equation changes. Currently, we are in a long period of reckoning where gold is better and will continue to be better, probably for another eight years. But it's absolutely silly to expect that gold held for 140 years would have been optimal.

Will all those who buy insurance for their gold please stand up?

Storage cost for gold? About usd 250 per year to store 6 million dollars with in current terms. Hardly a burden.
