I know....I remember that.... But remember, there is a difference between "Need" and "Want".....people don't need huge yachts, but many WANT them, and rather than have all taxpaying citizens pay for them (because of the HUGE difference in income), wouldn't it be better to just slap a tax on those truly expensive ones? I don't think that you and I need to pay for them, do you?

This way too, might stop people like Bill Gates Sr, and Buffett and others from saying they "need to pay more tax".....This would let them do just that.

The Big problem with my idea is that we can't trust Government to do the right thing.....

And trust me, I'm NOT suggesting the middle incomes pay huge tax increases......the lower income doesn't pay any Fed Income Tax, the middle incomes between $45k-$500k pay the HUGE bulk, and the high incomes don't pay as much in total, because there are just not as many of the super rich as there are the middle income people.

Note I didn't say the Super Rich don't pay their fair share....They pay plenty, if they don't have it all sheltered. Therein lies the problem....

Again, my "socialism" is a desire to equal out the taxes all of us in the MIDDLE have to pay for the people who don't pay any on the lower end, and the relatively few who have sheltered their wealth on the upper end, and don't take much "salary or income"...

If one adds the 400 wealthiest Americans total wealth (Forbes 400) I seem to remember it is about a trillion with a T.... but how much income do they claim every year.

When we add everyone else in the country who have income from $45, to maybe $500k or even a $million....and then add in the income at the top, doesn't it make all the middle incomes pay a higher percentage than they would ordinarily pay, if the top incomes were excluded from the middle group????

The top group can pay a higher tax. And I DON'T mean anything close to 90% .....If the middle income group pays 20-25% to the Feds, then maybe the top group could pay 30-35%...

Or even better....a 10% tax on every body in this country. With very few exclusions.
