The reason why I may not have reacted in this way before was because I didn't see it as a big deal. Rush, Beck, Olbermann, Matthews, etc. are all shock jocks just trying to get ratings. Surely those being driven to extremism by these guys are in the minority, no? Then I saw the reaction to the Giffords shooting and thought, "My God, is this what we have become?" The reaction was markedly worse than the reaction to Seung-Hui Cho and the Virginia Tech massacre. We reacted the right way to Virginia Tech (though with regard to gun control we're still wandering in the woods). Even in Seoul, candles were lit for the victims, cause you know, we Koreans were ashamed that the cowardly perpetrator was one of us. Now look at what we've become. Mere hours after Congresswoman Giffords was shot (along with many other people who weren't so "lucky"), the media came out blaming conservatives and the Tea Party for the vitriol. It's sickening, I tell you. I don't care if Rush or Beck made the media jump to conclusions like this. It's wrong, and both sides have to quit it. Meanwhile, even if you think conservatives deserve it for some karmic reason, it's also plain wrong in terms of JUSTICE. You don't convict those who are innocent and are just as horrified as you are about the incident. Not even in the court of public opinion. Instead, you go after the perp himself. And not just by giving him life or death, but by denying him exactly what he wants to see. That to me would be the best revenge. Show him that we as a nation are stronger and that his twisted plans have utterly failed, whatever they may be. Tenchusatsu
