IMO from the lurker's lair: I draw a little solace from this version of your chart:iqc.com My most consoling chart is a 2 year view which shows a continued slight rise but peaks & valleys on the way.interactive4.wsj.com (this is not the perfect chart to reflect this but it gives an idea). I also like this view:interactive4.wsj.com Additonally, the stock I have had the most success w/ exhibited similar gyrations so it is giving me hope that the upside will come again. I feel stocks almost inveviatlbly (sp?yawn...sorry) stumble after the IPO or an addtional offering. Isn't this a widely held/observed belief? I bought some to get into the stock prior at a decent level in case there was no stumble or a prolonged up spike & have bought more on the stumble. I will examine my ohter stocks and if I find any i can unload near a target I will so i can average down my MRVC holdings. This stumble occurs even in the up parts of up markets......so am not really surprised that our stock here has had its stumble magnified as it has stumbled in the midst of a down portion of a up/down (distinction not relavant to anything but mental peace) market. As a good, fundametnal co. it will _eventually_ hit at least 35 again & I am in the position to wait. I would _prefer_ a quick spike and be able to profit take down to my original postion & rebalance my portfolio. I have technical concerns about the quality of MRVC's GE product from the recent link (to Data Tech, I think) which was not really too favorable. This coupled w/ the concerns over distance detailed here have,I think, shaken loose momentum players, recent purchasers of the stock mostly traders not l/t investors, perhaps a few Mutual Funds who are hedging there bets by shedding a little, and generalists who just buy baskets of networking & tech and buy & sell these sectors with little regard to company strength. Both problems could jeapordize some of the anticipated growth already reflected in the stock & are legitimate concerns, but in the context of the history of the company I see them as problems that are routinuely surmounted by technology co.'s. As one of the 1st w/ the GE product I am somewhat understanding if the MRVC product is not the latest & greatest. I hope the expected '98 release of the next generation of MRVC product will leapfrog the current crop in the review just as they just leapfrogged MRVC. And MRVC seems to be able to be more competitive on price which will be a beneifit so long as they meet a min. quality standard whcih they should be capable of. All that said I would not be pleased to see MRVC hit the 'teens. I do not look forward to languishing through a slow rise form the depths all the way back to something like 30 before regaining momentum, etc.., but I can wait. I also wish MRVC would discover a PR department(as far as I am concerned that don't really have one they have a press release writer) and I hate hyped stocks, but I wish MRVC would join most of the co.s in this decade and do _smthing_ decent on the PR front. I gotta run so that's part one...I don't know if there is a part two, but I'm sure I left some of my thoughts out... later eric (p.s. the stock I had the most success w/ was GATE now GTW(I think) begining w/ its IPO for the really curious).
