I don't think you can say that just because of the split the street will think IOM is just another "Internet Hype Stock". I doubt that the split will have much of an effect at all on that kind of thing really.

>>Now, with this new stock split, its still just another Internet Hype stock.

Just another Internet Hype, WITH 10 MILLION DRIVES SOLD in 2.75 YRS !
I'll take that kind of hype every day.

>>>I would have thought they would want to get the stock up to the $80-100 range before the next split. Stocks up at that price range just seem to get more respect by the street.<<

This is exactly my sentiment. IOM still suffers from the effects of its last split. It is irresponsible to announce a split at such a low price of $28. This stock is NOT taken seriously by the Street because of management decisions exactly like the announcement today. Iomega is trying to rid itself of its Internet Hype tag, and this split does not help things. If IOM wants respect, they should wait until the stock price breaks its $56 all time high barrier (if that ever were to happen). That would garauntee to send a signal to the Street that IOM has arrived. <<<

This is my sentiment too. The split makes me very nervous. But let's not kid ourselves that it's OK to split because you're at 100. Look at AMAT. Hit 108, split 2:1, now at 28. They were very repected before the split.

I hope the split is for the reasons management says. I know I will not sleep easy tonight. When I look out the office window and see the Six Flags roller coaster, I'm reminded of the IOM experience these last few weeks - not for the faint of heart. At least the after hours price is up. It's not a fooproof indicator of tomorrows action, but it's better than the price being down in after hours.

Good luck to us all.

RE: Internet Hype. If anyone buys a stock because someone is hyping it on a chat group then they are a FOOL. I'm not that stupid, I do my OWN Due Dilligence.

There are also people on chat groups who short stocks then try and scare investors.

My question is: What is your adgenda?
