I know you are a Blackberry fan so I have to tell you that I bought my first Blackberry yesterday. It's a 8530 Blackberry Curve from Virgin Mobile. I know there are better Blackberries out there but I needed to port out a few numbers out of an AT&T Family Plan and this was a very good option for one of my lines. I'm getting 1200 minutes and unlimited data and text for $50 a month. 3G Data is much faster than AT&T media net. WIFI works fine and calls are clear. Virgin Mobile (along with Boost) is owned by Sprint. Dealing with Customer service was a bit of a challenge since it is outside North America and the reps don't understand English very well. It's a monthly prepaid plan. I had to get out of AT&T because the plan was in my wife's name and the only way I could pay for the plan was through my deceased wife's checking account. To officially transfer the financial responsibility of the account into my name, AT&T wanted new 2 year agreements on all the phones involved, along with $36 activation fees (on each phone) and a $18 transfer fee into my name. Needless to say, AT&T is just about history, as I speak. I can't say I'm surprised in the least. I know exactly where AT&T's allegiance lies. I researched this thoroughly beforehand and I'm getting very good reception throughout Manhatten, Brooklyn and Queens. I even get 3 bars in my basement. I bought the phone at Best Buy for $199.

Operamini doesn't work very well on the Blacberry 8530, but the Blackberry browser is very good for mobile sites and the Bolt Browser handles regular web pages suprisingly well. We were with AT&T for 4 years so I was not in contract any longer and was free to leave with no penalty. I found that surfing the web via Medianet was going downhill lately and at times was just not working.

The 8530 curve is a good phone, but I like the keyboard on the Nokia E71 and E72 a little better.

My other line will probably go on T-Mobile prepaid; they are offering $30 a month plan for $1500 minutes/texts (per month). We had them for 3 years before AT&T and they are unreliable for data, but good for voice as long as one doesn't stray to far from a major Metropolitan area.

What kind of Blackberry do you have?
