1/21/11 Contest Update Biotechs, especially small-caps, had some wild swings for the 4-day trading week but the Bears were pushing harder. At Friday’s close, the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up .68% YTD (vs. up 3.22% YTD a week ago) and the Contest median was up .96% YTD (vs. up 4.49% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 1.38% YTD (vs. up 3.86% YTD a week ago). RRGE’s portfolio (up 18.19% YTD) held on to the lead, with GENE’s portfolio (up 17.22% YTD) and PGO’s portfolio (up 12.49% YTD) taking second and third place. PGO’s portfolio was the sole holder (with a 5% allocation) of MSHL, the week’s best-performing biotech with an amazing 176% gain. At Friday's close, 24 of the 38 Contest portfolios were in the black with 20 of the 38 beating the NBI. Below is the Top Ten list.
