there's alot of stategy--some kids are better on there feet and some are better on the mat--from the little i saw of your son he looks to be better on his feet at this point--he goes right in for the shot--once he gets experience he'll get a little lower and drive into his opponent-and get that 2--getting the 1st takedown is always a good thing

you can take top--if your good at riding--bottom if your good at escapes--and neutral if your good on your feet--its really a good sport--and i have been watching it for many years and there are very few injuries--its really not high impact and the refs are watching usually for dangerous holds
