US technology against Afghan will

Depends upon which segment of the Afghan population you're referring to.

Again, without Pakistan controlling it's border regions, Pashtun Taliban forces will utilize those regions to not only undermine the Afghan government, but also Pakistan's.

Remember that the Pashtun ethnic nation exists within both Afghanistan and Pakistan. They are not united due to inter-tribal rivalries, but the Taliban have aspirations to accomplish just that unification.

What's at stake for BOTH countries is the defeat of militant Jihadist oriented groups, and in particular, the Taliban.

The defeat of militant Jihadist Islam (not Moderate/Secular Islam), wherever they may be located is what is critical.

Would you not be actively opposed to militant Christians attempting to spread their religion via sheer force of arms?

I would be..
