You might also interpret it to mean that the almighty dollar has decreased in value some more so it is just worth less at the well head. Consider that recently China and Russia have agreed to a transfer of oil assets without using the dollar as a basis of price. I read that as a vote against the instability of the dollar.

For those of us who live in a dollar denominated world, in either case owning shares of oil stocks has been a profitable proposition recently. It looks to me like oil stocks will be challenging former heights in the near future.

Exxon's Annual Energy Conference began at 10 AM EST this morning. They discuss their outlook for energy out to about 2030. You might want to check out their slides. Pretty easy to find.
