Nothing. Along with not raising the debt ceiling, they will also pass a law stating that the US govt will not default on its obligations. That means delayed payments. CA has done that before. Everyone knows that this is just song and dance.

EURO is in serious jeopardy of getting blown up! But the dollar may fall slightly against the swiss, can$ and aus$ and gold.

Here comes the guessing.

IF THEY REFUSE TO LIFT IT AND MERELY EXTEND A SPENDING RESOLUTION uncertainty and not much.

If however they do raise the limit and hog tie any expenditure with an offsetting cuts - Dollar goes up.

If they lift it and do not have a pay go type provision it resumes a decline.

I'm optimistic.

It may well take more time than expected.

I believe we have had a pivotal shift that will reject progressive goals for quite some time.

The poor hard working shmuck is tired of high taxes and slow/no growth.

He/she wants lower taxes and cutting off those on the dole.

We've just started a move to a very conservative and more than likely increased protectionism demand of life for our politicos to pursue.

It will get another breath of power in 2 years when Obama gets thrown out of the WH.

Then in 14 Hillary - who will be beaten by just a hair.

Not so sure the Dollar will be that strong - but it will be steady on a relative basis as Euro,Japan make us look good.

If by miracle we undo some laws that enable us to drill, mine, and build nuclear power plants,we'll get a very strong dollar as we can export commodities - then our Dollar will be King Dollar.

The cheap labor countries that have prospered as our domestic markets have devoured their cheap products will pay up for food and resources.

Those are all just guesses.
