BigKNY3, I'm not confused. In your post 2447 you wrote: <Zebra: I believe you are confusing two different clinical parameters; the duration of an erection following stimulation and the period of time in which a patient has the ability to have an erection.> <Although it is not clear from the abstract whether multiple doses were given> Please read the study again. This was actually two studies using the same subjects, ie. a two phase study. In the first phase, single doses of different strengths were tested versus placebo for duration of erections. In the second phase the subjects were given single daily doses and measured for frequency of erections over a seven day trial. ..........a double-blind crossover study which was conducted in two phases. In the first phase (four-way crossover), treatment efficacy was evaluated by measurements of penile rigidity using penile plethysmography during visual sexual stimulation at different doses of sildenafil (10, 25 and 50 mg or placebo). In the second phase (two-way crossover), efficacy was assessed by a diary record of penile erectile activity after single daily doses of sildenafil (25 mg) or placebo for 7 days. In my discussion of duration of action I ignored the phase of the study on frequency of erection as I doubted the drug will be approved for use in this manner. To demonstrate safety of daily use to the FDA would take significantly more research, as I'm sure you are aware. I doubt that Pfizer is interested in establishing that, as the extra cost of research and potential product liability would not seem to be justified by the marginal increase in demand, in MHO. But I will admit that this phase did demonstrate a prolonged effect, (unless those extra five daily erections were all in the first hour) You further stated: <the duration of the rigidity of 11.2 minutes for Viagra versus 1.3 minutes for placebo(base) and 7.4 minutes for Viagra versus 1.2 minutes for placebo (tip) were very impressive and indicates a very effective agent.> Now, maybe its a regional thing, but the Texas ladies have a phrase to describe the fellow who could, at best, produce that prodigious ten minute erection, "He's all hat, and no cattle." Good hunting. Zebra
