But getting back to what you originally said:
"Forget the rest of the world.......violence is becoming a way of life in these disunited states..."

Your statement seems to indicate you believe violent crime is rising in the US, however it appears to be contradicted by the data which shows an appreciable drop (albeit still high..) in levels of violent crime in the US in the past decade and a half.

Violent crime rises and recedes periodically in the US. There have been periods in the past when the crime rate looks like its ebbing only to have it pop up again. Having said that, your data hardly discredits the notion that this is a violent country. Why? Because it is a violent country.

In the meantime, many crime statisticians are questioning the latest statistics. First of all, crime tends to go up, not down, during a recession. And this was the worst recession since the Great Depression.

Secondly, police forces throughout the country have been cut back significantly due to the recession. As a consequence, some believe people have given up reporting crime.

In any case, I take little solace in those numbers when a congresswoman and 16 other people get gunned down on a Sunday morning in Tucson. Only in a America!

The truth is I think the US culture is on the descendant and only a few of us really care to something about it.

Why Gabrielle Giffords shooting hasn't boosted gun control

America – and Congress – have changed during the past two decades, giving gun rights the upper hand in states and on Capitol Hill. The Gabrielle Giffords shooting hasn't changed that.
