that was the top of the line military weapon of the day. It was ok with the Fathers that citizens could own the top of the line military weapon

I'd like to see a return to the assault rifle ban, only because it also banned high capacity magazines, for rifles AND pistols. Had that ban still been in place, a dozen people from recent massacres might be alive today. The ban DID help to limit the damage a crazy could do.

I would say I'm maybe conflicted about this, as it makes no sense at all for teenaged gangsters in the 'hood to be walking around with these things. OTOH, I don't like slippery slopes and the ones of those that are killing people are not typically the ones sold legally anyhow.

When I'm conflicted I prefer to err on the side of less government control since everything government touches turns to shit.
