One does not measure the success of raising a child based on accomplishments. They meassure it based on how happy and wise a child grows to become.

The daughter looks like a happy hottie to me:

Education, or behavior or happiness, is not enhanced by tough love. That is another one of those cruel primitive myths left over from days past. I have met the tough love crowd and they are just a bunch of losers who should not be raising children at all.

Some children need tough love.....some don't. However, that's not what the mother was saying. What she was saying is that parents are there to enforce discipline with children......within reason of course. Most children by their very nature are not disciplined.

BTW the woman wrote the article a bit tongue in cheek.

I was a teacher for several years. They used to put me in unruly class rooms because I could handle them without violence.

I am a teacher too. I too can deal with unruly children and get them to work.

Using violence to control children, is just the failure of the parent. And very bad for the child.

No one said anything about violence..........you're making stuff up to make your point.
