no, there was nothing about violence, or even smacking a child in there.

Of course not. There is rarely if ever a need to smack a child. My father never hit me. All he had to do was raise his voice which rarely happened and I would chill.....very quickly.

And imagine trying to raise a child in a violent fraught neighborhood, rife with gangs and guns... simple lil white with money world is not the same.

No kidding. I was watching American Idol last nite. There was a kid there from the Bronx. They gave us a tour of his neighborhood before he auditioned. He had an incredible voice. You had to wonder how that was possible given how violent the Bronx is. And he was the sweetest kid.

As much as I am angry at this country.......for its hypocrisy and BS, these kids believe in the 'American dream' and that gives them hope. I will have to keep reminding myself of that when I am down on the country.
