Has anyone from the House ever been successful in running for the POTUS?

Ford came from the House, but he was anointed by Nixon.

I think Gebhardt ran but went nowhere.

Bachman shows promise but is better suited to a senate, governor or VP slot in my view.

Unless, they have been the speaker or minority leader, House members are not well enough known to really go far in the campaign. Further, most have limited background in big issue management or big policy. Bachman is historically limited since the democrats have run the House and the chairmanships for last four years.
