If those people were not so brain-washed they would rise up and do the right thing.

The brain-washing is starting to fail, now that Chinese cell phones are being smuggled in and the government monopoly on information is failing.

Still, in such a totalitarian state the training to do or say only the "correct and loyal" thing in the presence of any stranger is overwhelming. No matter what any of those patients thought, they would have to assume that an informer would turn them over to the secret police if they did not claim with the utmost emotion that their sole interest in sight was to see the Dear Leader.

Moose, if you have cataracts, I wouldn't think Lasik would be the thing to do. Having had Lasik actually reduces slightly the probabilities for success from cataract surgery. I'm caught in this situation myself. Had Lasik done many years ago and now am developing cataracts. My doc has laid out the problem.
