It is very difficult to make people understand trade. If someone wants to sell you products at a very low price, take them.

What is seen is that somebody here can't compete. What is not seen is that people who want the product are getting a good deal.

Why should the Government be able stop you from buying it cheap? Just because it's made by people with yellow skin and slanted eyes?

…even with rampant wage inflation happening recently in China, it will be decades before wage parity is reached with the US.

Don't know if you've traveled to China, but I wholly agree with you!

We did, and even with the spoon fed itinerary, tour groups go through, you're sometimes exposed to the ugly underside of the rural regions.

Combine that with my experience of thirteen months living in Korea (and yes I know that was in the dark ages), you come to the realization that reaching economic parity with the U.S. will NOT happen in our (or our children's) lifetimes.

Maybe in Korea, but certainly not in China.

There's a lot of poverty behind those glossy televised images of modern China.

China, as a communist country, will never reach parity with America's union driven pay.

I like Trump's idea but the gutless politicians (including current and past Presidents) refuse to address the issue of tariffs.

Trump is an odd duck. I think we here would probably place him as an old school Rockefeller Republican. Socially conservative, but loves the State and protectionism.

One of my nieces works for minimum wage in the mall in the Philippines. 280 pesos per day. That's about $6. It doesn't include food or transport back and forth to work. And....it's hard to get the job - way more applicants than spots.
