Bob,

I have simply been told that COHR has spent alot of money to develop a laser that they believe is as good as or better than CYMI laser and that this is a high priority item for them because it is a fast growing market with high profit margins. I do not know whether COHR might have eventual cost advantages due to scale advantages with certain other lasers that they make. COHR has a nice portfolio of cash cows to feed R&D money to the DUV effort and they are spending generously to this end. I have the sense they will do what it takes to succeed in this market. I have no idea what specific market share goals they have. The important thing is that barriers to entry are not sufficient for CYMI to maintain its monopoly position. The market is simply too attractive to competitors.

I do not doubt that there may be switching costs for CYMI customers. Perhaps you may have better information than I about such barriers to entry. If so, please share.
