Hi Que....I'm jealous of your trip to Australia and glad to hear what a great trip it was.

All of your points are well-taken re the entire medical industry. It's pretty much an artificial structure with little incentive to hold down costs. The natural competitive forces are just missing. This is why I could even entertain the notion of a single-payer system in my mind in the first place.

I try to do my part, though, for Medicare. When a doc's nurse tries to schedule a follow-up visit to give me the results of a test, I tell her to either mail it or give me a phone call. No billing of Medicare to spend thirty seconds to tell me if a test is normal or abnormal.

" No he wanted all the tests completed so he could review them with you in his office. "

I am sympathetic with the doctors on stuff like this. Even if they are 95% certain they are at risk for the event of the 5% probability surprise. If the surprise occurs and things go bad - you can just see the predator lawyer screaming with tears in their eyes how the doctor failed to do the proper tests that would have solved the problem.

Until TORT is included in health care reform - it is simply another democratic pay off to their money groups! The whole democratic agenda is a power grab based on being caring - while paying off their cronies - who then funnel it back. It is pure corruption.
