I guess so. They've blustered their way through to what they want for years, and pols are scared to cross them.

What I understand less though is why the unions won't cut wages and bennies for existing employees/retirees more sharply so as to lessen the blow to the next generation of workers. I guess I'd prefer a more incremental process to this reset taking place.

What I really, really don't understand is why public union employees aren't angry with the all the Dem officials that foolishly led them to the promised land and now can't deliver on the absurd level of promises made. As far as I can tell, public employees are still totally loyal to the Democratic party. I'll be surprised to see Christie still in office in three years.
